You Can Finally Put Some Delicious Schweddy Balls In Your Mouth

All the way back in 1998 Ana Gasteyer, Molly Shannon, and Alec Baldwin (as Pete Schweddy) starred in an SNL skit called The Delicious Dish, in which they poked fun at NPR and introduced us all to Alec Baldwin’s Schweddy Balls. He’s had a hard time living that one down, but the good news is that it’s being made into a limited edition Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor.

“For a long time, I thought that ‘Here Lies Pete Schweddy’ would end up on my tombstone,” Baldwin said in a press release. “Now, thanks to Ben & Jerry’s, the goodness of the Schweddy family recipe won’t go with me to the great beyond. It is immortalized here, right now, and it’s an ice cream. Ben & Jerry’s and Schweddy. Two great names in American dessert, together at last.”

NPR reports Schweddy Balls will be available in about 30% of stores which carry Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. The official site of Schweddy Balls says the product is “Fair Trade vanilla ice cream with a hint of rum and is loaded with fudge covered rum and milk chocolate malt balls.” We imagine Schweddy Balls also being velvety smooth and just a bit salty. Just don’t rest it on a hot stove for too long.

Try not to lick your screen. We know it’s hard to resist. Now if we can just get them to carry Dexter Morgan’s Miami Slice all will be right with the world.
