Genre-flipping remix videos need to be something special for me to take notice. There have been so many — The Shining as a heartwarming family comedy! When Harry Met Sally as a horror film! — that my typical response is, “Yeah, yeah, I get it. That’s great.”
That being said, this video of “Community” re-cut as a sexual thriller (watch below) is absolutely terrific. I’d forgotten about some of the more dramatic/angry scenes that are shown here, and when those scenes get darkened and set to tense music, you get a trailer for what looks like a great thriller starring Joel McHale, Alison Brie, and Gillian Jacobs in a dangerous love triangle. Easily better than anything Paul Verhoeven’s done in 20 years.
