Why spend the New Year tapping your foot to easy listening or your mother’s favorite muzak as your family tells embarrassing stories of your childhood when you could break out your bathing suits and your not-so-metal hands for the annual Rock Boat event from January 6-10? Sailing from Tampa, Rock Boat is five days of partying and reliving your college days – or inspiring the start of them – aboard the Carnival Inspiration cruise ship. Hosted by Sister Hazel, Rock Boat XI boasts a lineup of 26 bands that is constantly growing, and the variety should be enough to please fans of various rock styles.
Joining Sister Hazel this year are Ed Kowalcyzk of LIVE, Alternate Routes, Antigone Rising, Aslyn, Tim Brantley, Graham Colton, Death on Two Wheels, Matt Duke, Elmwood, Gaelic Storm, Green River Ordinance, Matt Hires, Will Hoge, Ingram Hill, Toby Lightman, Tony Lucca, M.E.R.M.E.R, Scott Munns, Nada Surf, NEEDTOBREATHE, Ponderosa, Sam Thacker, Trailer Park Ninjas, Truth & Salvage Co. and Matt Wertz. Possibly joining the roster? Me in a Tri Delt sandwich, screaming, “PLAY I ALONE!”
Boyz II Men Love Cruise
But if you’ve retired the frayed cargo shorts and are looking for a little more mellow and romantic time on the ocean, then the guys of Boyz II Men might be who you’re looking for. From February 11-14, singles and couples can hit the seas for some Motown Philly excitement, with a trip that is absolutely jam packed with events to keep everyone entertained. Not only do you get two performances by Boyz II Men, but the band will perform a question and answer session with their diehard fans, they’re hanging out for a singles mixer, allowing couples to renew their wedding vows in a service conducted by the band, overseeing a poker tournament, and they’re closing out the trip with a very special Boyz II Men prom. All my prom had was a lot of puking, some awkward hugs and a Billy Joel song.
Kid Rock’s Chillin’ the Most Cruise 2011
What’s that? You say you just want to let loose and get crazy on the high sea? Then Kid Rock is probably your man, as the self-proclaimed Pimp of the Nation is hosting the Chillin’ the Most cruise from April 7-11, sailing from New Orleans to Cozumel. The other artists are currently a secret, but well-known is the desire to attend this floating party, since the cruise is currently sold out. Don’t worry, you can Bawitaba yourself over to the waiting list and cross your metal fingers.
Tickets for the Rock Boat XI are starting at $599 and there are rumors that it may already be sold out, but hit up the event community forums to hook up with your fellow rock fans with extra tickets or needing cabin mates. Meanwhile, packages for the Boyz II Men cruise are starting around $640 and you can see all of the ridiculous details here.
