Who wouldn’t want “Calvin & Hobbes” walking around with them wherever they go? Etsy artist Aaron Nason has designed some sneakers that will remind you of everyone’s favorite comic strip. Custom painted sneakers sounds like they would be out of the typical fanboy’s price range, but at $40 you can get these shoes cheaper than most name brand shoes at the store. Check out more images of these sneakers after the jump or purchase a pair at Nason’s store.

While awesome, it needs more Spaceman Spiff.
I know this is on etsy and all, and isn’t mass produced, but this is disrespectful to the very person they are trying to honor by making these shoes. One of the reasons he stopped making the strip was because of fights over licensing his characters to make cheap geegaws and doodads. Way to ignore another artists wishes.
You can’t create an iconic character and expect everyone to leave it alone. Waterson could have sued the people who produced, for example, the car decal of Calvin peeing. Did he? I’m sure he had the money to…
Actually, Watterson has been pretty successful at suing people for trying to use his characters. Those stickers are illegal. I’m sure he could, and likely will, sue this shoe guy as well.
Wow, some people get pretty fired up about this stuff huh?
My name is Aaron Nason and I am the artist who made these shoes. I think anyone who can do simple math can look at these shoe and see that Im not making any money. I just happen to love Calvin and Hobbes and have a knack for painting shoes. If Bill Watterson himself called me and told me to cease and desist I would be upset, but I would do so. If he felt like he was entitled to the money for the shoes, I would write him a check.
