Last month Rob Liefeld said he would be resigning from DC Comics after his current runs on the New 52 were finished sometime next year. This week, however, he abruptly quit ahead of schedule and aired his grievances on Twitter, the complaint box of the 21st century.
Next month's issues of Grifter, Savage Hawkman, and Deathstroke will be the last ones Liefeld contributes to, saying there was "too much BS" to deal with at DC. He then went on to list complaints with DC, insulting one DC associate editor (Brian Smith) repeatedly, and then hinted at where he's going from here. And, no, the place he's going next isn't "the pouch store".
Talking about what he'll be doing instead of the DC work, Liefeld promised a return to his creator-owned work with the Extreme line at Image, saying "Bloodstrike, Brigade and a new title are in my future. And there is another media component yet to be released...." [Comics Alliance]
There's a Bloodstrike movie in the works, if you hadn't heard earlier this week. Yes, Liefeld quit DC right as the Bloodstrike movie news broke.
We've waded through the enormous pile of tweets Rob Liefeld has posted in just the past couple of days and put together a highlight reel in chronological order. This dude really doesn't like some of his editors...

STOP TWEETING IN THE THEATER.

“I don’t crap on my employer while in their employ. Then, if they crap on me on my way out, then…well. Get what you give.”
Or, even if they haven’t said anything, whatever the case may be.
– Rob Liefeld, consummate professional.
Jesus Christ this guy…
I sure hope Bloodstrike is about a leukemia patient.
Some refreshing honesty in speaking out against one of the big two is nice to see, even from Rob Liefeld. Interesting look into some behind the scenes stuff. It’s easy for him to quit, but I guarantee someone new wouldn’t stand a chance doing something like this. Still though, I can’t imagine ever being unhappy writing comics for a living, even if you were forced to overhaul plots and directions at the last minute.
I mean… He’s fourteen. What did you expect?
Rob is a douche. He has always been a douche. I have been in IM disputes with the man where he whines about how everyone talks shit about how awful his “art” is and that no one wants to offer positive suggestions or advice. When advice is offered, he does a 180, and takes the “I’ve been doing this for a long time, so I don’t need any help. I’ll keep drawing how I’ve been drawing. Thanks, but fuck off.” The doucheyness hit a high point when his affection for a certain white powder caused him to get out of his car while still in drive, sending it through a convenience store front window. Not kidding. I have NO idea why DC hired his untalented, clown shoes ass in the first place. Godfuckingawful.
Also, anyone who texts or tweets in a theater while the film is showing should be punched in the junk repeatedly.
“I mean, I wanted to stay, but they told me ONLY 25 pouches per character. I said FUCK THAT! You know? It’s like, what if my mercenary needs 26 pouches? They also told me to draw feet.”
I’d love to join in, Farthammer, and make fake quotes, but it would just become a laundry list of every reason why his “art” is horrible… and there are about 50 websites solely for that already.
Well, I just checked out the forty worst Liefeld drawings, and it is staggering. How did this guy ever get a job, let alone be employed continuously for years Stick men are more anatomically correct.
Have you seen the sequel?

I was at my local comic shop the other day and I saw Liefeld’s ridiculous logo on the cover on not 1 but 2 DC titles. it was like a big ol’ caution warning to say the fuck away. And I did.
