Star Wars, Star Trek — it’s all the same, right? Warp speed, hyperspace, Death Stars, Borg cubes, what’s the f–king difference? Probably not much going forward, because Paramount Vice Chairman Rob Moore has assured the world that J.J. Abrams will, in addition to directing Star Wars: Episode VII, also continue to control all things Star Trek going forward.
Sigh. I could rant on about how Star Trek and Star Wars are actually pretty different things, with unique ethos and fandoms and whatnot, but whatever — when Hollywood execs think “sci-fi” now they just think “oh, that stuff J.J. Abrams does.”
So yeah, now that Star Trek and Star Wars are basically the same thing, how about throwing us nerds a bone J.J.? How about a Star Trek/Star Wars crossover? Just saying, I have some pretty sweet ideas for a Millennium Falcon/Defiant from DS9 space battle.

You know people are going to be looking for things in the new Trek movie that indicates that JJ knew for a long time he was going to be directing the new Star Wars…”See this shrub, it’s the shape of Galactic Empires’ logo.” It’s a sign!
I actually think a crossover could be pretty awesome if it was done correctly. Too bad the fanboynerds won’t ever let it happen.
C’mon guys. “Temba, his arms wide open”
A movie might attract too much fanboy rage, but maybe they could do a video game? I think a Trek/Wars video game would be pretty sweet.
Considering that “Star Trek” IS a Star Wars movie, essentially, I’m mostly wondering how he’ll manage to make the two different.
Unless suddenly Star Wars Episode VII becomes a thinly veiled allegory for the ills of modern society set against a Sci-Fi backdrop.
Easy. Make a Star Wars movie that feels like a Star Trek movie. FANBOY HEADS WOULD ASPLODE
So “Star Wars” would be J.J. Abrams’ message movie?
Yeah, I can see it.
If you can have Hulk fight Superman, hell Superman fought He-Man for christsakes, nothing is impossible.
they are exactly the same thing:
inferior to Doctor Who

You there.. die a slow death…..
I would love to see him make the new Star Wars movie a thoughtful and cerebral movie with a moral lesson at its heart. Then we can watch Star Wars fans scream how he “Trekified” the Star Wars universe.
And I would laugh and laugh and laugh….
You can’t make a star wars movie a stand alone movie, it has to be a part of something. It needs 3 or so movies to make it feel right. I hope episode VII is going to take that approach, otherwise it’ll feel horribly crammed and seem as though it was nothing but a shameless milking of the franchise (which it will be, but we’re used to it by now)
I’m going to join in with the nerd outrage, but mostly because this gets us no closer to a new Ronald D. Moore Star Trek series helmed by Ronald D. Moore.
Put John Noble in it somewhere and you can do whatever the hell you want.
