Arcade Fire And The Foo Fighters Will Perform With Mick Jagger On ‘SNL’

As of now, the greatest guest backing band in “SNL” history is either the E Street Band (with Bruce Springsteen) or the guys who played behind Ashlee Simpson, who I’m calling the Poor Bastards. That will all change on May 19 when Mick Jagger hosts/performs/stone rolls, because he’s lined up a killer backing group for the show’s season finale: Arcade Fire and the Foo Fighters. Take that, Little Steven.

According to Rolling Stone:

It’s unclear what Jagger will sing with the two bands, but odds are good that he will revisit Rolling Stones classics to celebrate his band’s 50th anniversary. (Via)

As long as it’s not “Angie” or “Pretty Beat Up” or anything that was recorded after 1972 — actually, just play something from Exile on Main Street, Mick’s Foo Fire. This will be Arcade Fire’s second appearance on “SNL” (my fiancée still talks about this kiss), and Dave Grohl’s 11th, playing not only with the Foo Fighters, but also Nirvana, Them Crooked Vulture, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. What must Keef be thinking?
