During a show in New York over the weekend with Neil Young, Band of Horses, and the Black Keys, the Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl admitted that his band may not be (ever)long for this world, though they’ll forever live on in Best Music Videos of the 1990s specials and repeats of Me, Myself, & Irene on FX.
During the band’s epic set at the massive Global Citizen Festival in New York’s Central Park on Saturday (September 30), Grohl told the 60,000 crowd in attendance that “this is it,” reports Billboard.
Before playing “Learn To Fly,” the group’s fourth song of the night, Grohl said: “Without making a big deal out of it, we don’t have any shows after this. This is it, man. Honestly I don’t know when we’re gonna do it again…and this is the perfect place to do it.” (Via)
It’s impossible to know if he’s just referring to the Foos going on a hiatus from touring and recording for awhile, or if BOOM this is it for the group, who’ve been around for nearly 20 years, or four times as long as Grohl was in Nirvana. Either way, without the Foo Fighters around for any amount of time, modern rock radio gets A LOT less interesting. For every new song they don’t put out, that just means an extra slot for Linkin Park. Boo. But hey, maybe Grohl will finally reunite with Krist and Kur…oh, yeah, that’s right. Never mind.

Well that sucks
NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Of course, if this leads to Dave Grohl becoming the full time drummer for Queens of the Stone Age…I’m all for it.
As great as that would be, that would totally not be fair to Joey Castillo who has been busting his ass off with them since Dave was no longer able to tour with them. Dave Grohl should just join up with another band or go out and make another Them Crooked Vultures album. He won’t have any free time.
Oh look, this actually happened!
But they were gonna play forever…
Meh.
I am guessing just a break while he does some Vultures or QOTSA stuff (at least I hope)
They have been working their tails off for well over a year… and were pretty busy before that as well. Might just be a much needed hiatus. Will be a much less entertaining musical landscape in the meantime though!
Grohl seems to be the type of guy that loves to play. I dont see this lasting long.
