The National is one of my favorite bands.

When word got out a couple of months ago that The National had composed an original song -- "Exile Vilify" -- for the video game Portal 2, a lot of people familiar with the band were shocked due to the fact that they rarely agree to license their music, much less compose songs for other commercial ventures.

I try to avoid talking about music here, partly because I'm no longer up to speed on what the cool kids like, but mostly because people are annoyingly opinionated about what they like and dislike.

The National's new record won't be released until May 11th, but they debuted the lead track, "Terrible Love" on Fallon Wednesday night.
