Community star Donald Glover released a free mixtape yesterday under his rap alias Childish Gambino. Titled Royalty, the album features guest appearances by a bunch of big-time hip hop figures, including RZA, Bun B, Tina Fey, Schoolboy Q, and Ghostface KilHOLD ON WAIT DID THAT SAY TINA FEY? Yes, indeed it did. The 30 Rock star and showrunner delivers the outro on the song “Real Estate,” which I have helpfully excerpted below.
Yeah we in here, we in this thing
Gambino is forever, royalty is forever
We ballin’ till we f-ck up the hardwood, homie
This the life we live, son
My president is black and my prius is blue, motherf-cker
Royalty all day, we droppin’ racks at Nordstrom, son
That’s racks on racks, dammit. You feel me? You feel me?
This is the part where most people would say something crazy and drop the N-word after it
Not going to. Not gonna do that, I don’t feel comfortable!
I’m out
I suppose this makes sense because Glover wrote for 30 Rock before he got the gig on Community, but still, I don’t think I’ve ever written a sentence that included RZA, Ghostface Killah, AND Tina Fey before today, and it turns out I really like to do it. For that reason, if for no other, this story is pretty great.

So it’s safe to assume that’s Hilary Swank featured on this as well?
(this tape is actually pretty legit, weird white lady rap aside)
This. Is. Amazing.
NEVER LEAVE ME, LIZ LEMON.
Needs…more….Abed…
He’s getting more commercial with each new release which is great for his career, but I’ll always love his I Am Not a Rapper mix tapes best. Culdesac was a good compromise of “indie” verses the more traditional hip-hop he’s been gravitating towards. Still, Gambino Girl forever MOTHER FUCKA
“I’m talking to you, gay kid.”
White women should never rap. Ever. That said, I’d put Tina Fey in 2nd place (behind Natalie Portman) on the all-time list for her performance.
I listened to the track he did with Beck, it was cool to hear him return to his “Loser” days but I still put him third behind Portman and Fey in the pantheon of white chicks rapping*.
* plus I learned recently that Beck is a Scientologist so seriously, fuck him.
As much as I dislike Scientology, I can’t hate Beck.
I mean, unless he goes on TV and starts ranting like Tom Cruise, I’ll give him a pass.
Someone reads the same CNN headlines as me. I think WG needs a post on how Greta Van Sustren is BOTH Fox News Crazy and Scientology crazy. Isn’t that like being a crip and a blood?
tina fey shitted on gambino in this track
By expertly excerpted you mean copied (incorrect) lyrics from another source and embedded the video, right?
Correction to second to last line: Not going to, Not gonna do that, I don’t feel comfortable
The correct lyrics make the joke slightly better.
Thank God, the Internet police arrived.
@Tanka – I would take your criticism much more seriously if you hadn’t made the exact same mistake in your comment. I said “helpfully excerpted” in the post, not “expertly excerpted.”
But have fun chucking those rocks around your glass house.
So Huffington Post steals incorrect content from a site, you “helpfully” steal it and re-post it here, and I’m the asshole.
It’s not a glass house situation, you fucking moron. I didn’t say you made a mistake typing out the lyrics. I implied you should find a more accurate source if you’re going to re-use other people’s work.
“So Huffington Post steals incorrect content from a site, you “helpfully” steal it and re-post it here, and I’m the asshole.”
Well, at least you get it which can’t be said for most assholes.
currently loving the mixtape and this track here mad me smile more that it shouldve…the ghostface and Rza song are amazing…good shit troy
Man this tape is great, better than Camp. Although the track We Ain’t Them seems to hint at dude willing to treat Community like 30 Rock…
Better than Camp ain’t a high bar. I keep wanting to love Childish Gambino (the talent is definitely there) but he keeps undercutting himself with all the whining about how nobody will take him seriously because “he’s different”, which makes no sense given how wide-ranging hip-hop is currently (also, he’s not really that “different”).
This Tina Fey thing seems kind of cheap, like falling back on the old “isn’t it funny? The white lady is talking like a negro!” thing.
That said, Glover and Fey are still both awesome.
Fey killed it. Thats the best ending to a mixtape/album ever. That song itself even before Tina comes in is my favourite on the whole thing.
Tina Fey wrote the Mathlete Rap from Mean Girls, son, that shit was fly.
For her next move, Fey just needs to strangle that horrible chick from Karmin.
Tina Fey is a fictitious character, so is Sarah Palin, both played by Jennifer Greenberg Sexton. This actor also played the roles of Gabrielle Giffords, Morning Mayan Linda West, Sonia TrutherGirl and others…

I like Gambino. This song however, is dull as f##k.
Oh and the Tiny Fey bit sucks too.
