Because I didn’t. Then again, I’m not a bitter, dried-up housewife who drinks wine by the gallon and discusses the adorable Kirk Cameron to her cat Mr. Whiskers IV, which is a totally accurate description of the majority of Parents Television Council members. (See?) In a SHOCKING new study, PTC members found a “staggering increase in the frequency and explicitness of pixilated (sic) nudity on the broadcast networks during primetime hours,” with “76 incidents of full nudity in 37 shows compared to 15 incidents in 14 shows the previous year.”
That’s a increase of 407%! Think of all the warped minds. Wait a second…407 is Orlando’s area code, Orlando is where Mickey Mouse lives, Mickey Mouse was in Fantasia, one of Fantasia‘s most famous scenes was about a devil named Chernabog. IT’S A SATANIC CONSPIRACY. Maybe the PTC is onto something here.
Other fascinating findings in the study revealed:
Almost 70% of the scenes that depicted full nudity during the 2011 – 2012 study period were in shows that aired before 9:00 pm and as early as 7:00 pm. By comparison half of the full nudity scenes aired after 9:00 pm the previous year.
Out of the 76 instances of full nudity this past season, only 5 occurred in shows that carried an “S” descriptor which would alert parents to the presence of heightened sexual content.
The PTC documented only one instance of full frontal pixilated nudity in the 2010-11 television season, but 64 instances just one year later, an increase of 6300%.
There was a 2700% increase in the use of blurring or pixilation to cover body parts in the recently concluded television season compared to the previous year.
And the problem is…?
Studies have revealed how damaging these messages are for impressionable youngsters. One study found that children as young as six equate being sexy with being popular, while another study revealed that teens who were exposed to high levels of sexual content in films “start having sex at younger ages, have more sexual partners, and are less likely to use condoms with casual sexual partners.”
I was on-board with your Fantasia theory, PTC, but now you’ve lost me with your crazy pants ramblings. I do, however, strongly suggest checking out their show-by-show indecency guide, which includes such rhetoric as:
Sexual content [on Bob's Burgers] is infrequent but occasionally provocative, such as references to transvestite prostitutes, “penis pills,” and a burger called “The Child Molester,” which comes with a side order of candy. Language is mild, and has included “damn,” and “hell.”
…and…
Foul language on Community frequently includes the words “ass,” “hell,” “douche bag,” “piss,” “crap,” and “damn.” Sex was not depicted, although some dialogue contained sexual references and innuendo, with Britta accusing Jeff of trying to “get in her pants.” Violence is not a problem for the program.
PTC members must look like this when watching Community:

Minus the resembling Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Donald Glover, and Danny Pudi part. More like the goat.

Alls I know is Chernabog don’t play.
If only Community was on a pay cable channel and contained nudity, its ratings would increase a thousand fold.
I get their concern with Floridian pre-teens being exposed to pixelated genitalia. Makes for a big surprise behind the 7-11.
They don’t even cover any of the Kardashian shows, and I’d consider the attitudes/lessons(?) from those shows to be far more harmful to our kids than any nudity.
True dat.
I mean, indubitably. Beg your pardon, sir.
Really? 407 percent?
I guess that explains why me and all of my friends have become fornicators, ragamuffins and philanderers.
Posers, the lot of them. I was fornicating well before your friends, and with a higher quality of goat.
That is because all of the best shows are now produced on channels that don’t mind showing nudity. That and 50% of all television viewers are male and 100% of males like nudity.
*Tips cap to HBO and Showtime.
I wish the goat gasped.
I will forever wish the goat gasps in all gifs to come. Thank you for that
I think 406% of that was Mike showing sideboob on Mike & Molly.
Out of the 76 instances of full nudity this past season, only 5 occurred in shows that carried an “S” descriptor which would alert parents to the presence of heightened sexual content.
This is a travesty – I mean, how am I supposed to know what shows to watch?
I appreciate the PTC for reminding me about “The Child Molester” burger.
That joke was a fucking gem.
But you can’t actually show nudity on Network TV…..
I didn’t know someone’s bare back counted as nudity lol
And here is your regular reminder that most of the world has considerably more sex and nudity on TV than we do and as a result they have a higher percentage of sex crimes…… no, that’s not right…. well at least we can be sure they have a higher percentage of pregnant teenagers…… wait I think that’s wrong too…. well….. we’re just better looking I guess
Look, I don’t watch tv for the titties, but sometimes nudity is completely valid. Heaven forbid we admit ladies take off their bras during sex. As some lady rapper who had her cellphone hacked once said “it’s just a titty”.
Don’t want your dumb wiener kids seeing it? Pay attention to them and limit what they can watch. They’ll grow up to do anal on camera to get back at you for shielding them so much, but you’ll win in the short term.
Conservatives: “Blah blah blah personal responsibility, blah blah blah raise my kids for me television.”
Interested in nudist dating, make nudist friends / hang out naked? google “naturistmingle” to meet nudists, it offers a friendly and confidential environment for nudists to look for friendships, relationships, and resources concerning the nudist lifestyle.
“The PTC documented only one instance of full frontal pixilated nudity in the 2010-11 television season, but 64 instances just one year later, an increase of 6300%.”
When reached for comment, Daniel Tosh replied “You’re welcome.”
“One study found that children as young as six equate being sexy with being popular.”
Kids these days are idiots. That number should be down at 3 or 4.
I was at an outdoor bar-restaurant after work yesterday and saw a beautiful young blonde woman walking around topless.
There’s nothing wrong with nudity, but when all the nudity in media is sexy, that’s when there are problems. A lot of the European programming that I have seen has nudity, but it’s usually just people of all ages and body types hanging out with each other. Non-sexual.
