I don’t know why I feel outraged when Forbes‘ list of the highest paid celebrities comes out each year. It’s usually the same folks every single year, as wealth generally begets more wealth. But I always end up feeling slightly disgusted with the majority of people who dominate the list: Reality-show people, talk show hosts, and conservative talk radio people. I mean, it’s kind of sad that we reward the very people responsible for some of the worst television, and some of the most divisive people in entertainment. What does it say that Tom Cruise is one of the least offensive people on the list? Sure, he’s a wackjob, but at least he produces pretty solid entertainment. Some of them are not so bad (Dr. Dre, Steven Spielberg, Dick Wolf — who is raking it in on Law & Order reruns), but it’s mostly a list of people that I associate with the worst in entertainment.

At least there aren’t any Kardashians on the list. Yet. Here’s the 20 Highest Paid Celebrities:
Oprah Winfrey — $160 million
Michael Bay — $160 million
Steven Spielberg — $130 million
Jerry Bruckheimer — $115 million
Dr. Dre — $110 million
Tyler Perry — $105 million
Howard Stern — $95 million
James Patterson — $94 million
George Lucas — $90 million
Simon Cowell — $90 million
Glenn Beck — $80 million
Elton John — $80 million
Tom Cruise — $75 million
Dick Wolf — $70 million
Rush Limbaugh — $69 million
Manny Pacquiao — $67 million
Dr. Phil — $64 million
Donald Trump — $63 million
Ryan Seacret — $59 million
Britney Spears — $58 million
Tiger Woods — $58 million

We’re sure that’s an earnings list- not a bounty pool?
I wonder if that accounts for all the money that Oprah’s networking is losing?
So that’s how much Dre’s being paid to not work on Detox.
100$ is from all the dumb ass’s that buy Beats by Dre products
Bose headphones > Beats by Dre. Real talk: the beats headphones are just as expensive as they are shitty
Whereas Bose headphones are more expensive than they are shitty?
How is Nigel Lythgoe not on that list? If he were, he’d be my favorite.
James Patterson? The author? That amazes me. Where on earth is all the money coming from?
Ah, that’s how. In 2012, he had 13 books published (total page count ~5000). That’s a lot of writing.
And dont’ forget movie rights. Seems like 80% of his books get optioned.
Yeah, about that writing – Patterson “co-writes” all of his books. At this point, I’d be surprised if he’s doing anything more than providing his co-author with a vague outline, then slapping his name in big font on the cover when the book is finished.
Dear black people, please stop giving your money to Tyler Perry, he’s not that funny.
We’ll try to do something about Rush Limbaugh in return.
deal
Dude, you’re underselling the value of the Tyler Perry bounty.
If black people stop with Tyler Perry, I say you give them Limbaugh AND throw in Hannity. Or at least get somebody to smack some sense into Juan Williams.
Michael Bay earns $30 million more than Stevie Spielberg. End of the world right there!
I don’t even mind celebutards making that much money. Hell, the market thinks they’re worth it so I’ll play along. What grinds my gears is how often these people take to the airwaves to tell me who to vote for, what I should think about social issues and how I can join them in their quest to join whatever is their cause de jour. Just because they’re rich doesn’t mean that I give two shits about their opinions. If Steven Spielberg wanted to give me tips on how to direct a movie or run a production company, hey, I’m all ears. But don’t tell me who to vote for. You vote for yourself, I’ll do the same for me. We may even vote for the same guy or care about the same cause, but trust me, it isn’t because of the wisdom that you’ve passed on to us. Same goes for Trump and anyone else who thinks that their opinion is somehow bolstered by the fact that they have shitloads of money.
How in the hell is Rush Limbaugh score higher than all of the people below him…even Donald Trump?! Are you serious?
