Sunday night Jimmy Kimmel hosts the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards and as part of the great responsibility that comes with being influential pop culture commentators it is our duty to congregate in the comments section and attempt to impress each other with snarky remarks about the production, the celebrities, and the general neglect of Outstanding Comedy Anything.
As a special treat writer/comedian/actress Vanessa Ramos — who recently served as staff writer on the Comedy Central Roast of Roseanne — will be joining us to kick off the festivities with well-timed one-liners that are sure to make the UPROXX staff feel inadequate. Meh. Modern Family winning isn’t the worst thing. As far as the top ten shows on TV it’s clearly the best. It’s a huge step up from the highly rated CBS comedies. The fact that an actually legitimately watchable show won the Emmy for best comedy as opposed to some hunk of shit like Mike and Molly is a good thing. It’s a gateway to good TV…it winning awards instead of some laugh track piece of shit is a good direction.
In my eyes, Damien Lewis is still rolling with house money for being Maj. Richard Winters. He’s the only person I’m actually ok with beating out Mr. White.
Emmy voters better be cautious answering knocks at their doors this week.

I really liked it at first… and then half way through the first season I started feeling… itchy. I kept fast forwarding through Hulu and I didn’t care. When that article came out it really hit home. soooo sad.
The first season was great. Since then, the writers have settled into a comfort zone as “the best comedy on TV” and have done nothing new in addition to regressing into the comfort zone of being a standard sitcom.

Alright I know everybody is hating on Homeland right now, but seriously what series should I catch up on Boardwalk Empire or Homeland?
Yes.
Homeland was the best new show of last year. And it is only one season in.
You can’t go wrong with either. People wouldn’t be hating Homeland if it didn’t beat Breaking Bad (which is clearly the better show).
Homeland will take less time (one season) and easier to follow if you’re gonna crash through it in a couple days

I admit that I enjoy it on the TBS reruns for a chuckle, but even as a fan I don’t understand why people think it’s the best thing ever. It’s not. It’s fluffy and “smart” in the sense that it makes science references, but not “smart” as in a creative or innovative show…
and even the science is pretty lite most of the time…
