There were two episodes of The League last night, and while both were good, the second one with Raffi was the obviously superior one. The first one, “The Anchor Baby,” had some good stuff, including the bare ass of Ruxin’s wife, the anchor baby premise, the friend-off, and poor Andre’s psychological condition. The second one was great, in part because of Rafi, and in part because it was simply a better written episode. A few months ago, Daniel Tosh got in trouble for making a rape joke and the Internet entered into the GREAT DEBATE OF 2012: CAN A RAPE JOKE BE FUNNY? I had the feeling that this episode was likely inspired by it. I will leave you to decide whether you think a rape joke CAN be funny, but I will say that “”Bro-Lo El Cordero” was DEFINITELY funny.

I loved the callback to the earlier episode where Rafi pretended to be baby Jeffrey’s dad. I didn’t think it was an unresolved storyline but I enjoyed that Rafi did.

Raffi’s exchange with his super was the funniest exchange of the season, one of the funniest exchanges in recent memory. When the H are they going to make Raffi a regular character? He’s literally better than every other character combined.

My favorite was them recording Ruxin describing different ways the exam room smelled, and just letting him do it 3 times. I wonder how many more there were that got cut.

The league says the most insane weird ass shit….and thats just whats so great about it. They use fantasy football as little more than a background subplot to further the insanity…
If it was more into being about actual fantasy football I don’t think it would have a quarter of the fan base it does.
The weakest elements of the show are ff based. And the “play” drawn up at the flower shop was stupid. By the way, no chance in hell those workers in the pickup truck were watching American football.
Yep. I would rather they just drop the whole fantasy football thing altogether, but then there’d be no reason for these people who clearly hate each other to hang out. Whenever they actually talk about ff the show just drags and it’s always awful.
I might be in the minority but I love that they don’t go to the Rafi well too often. They use him perfectly but I don’t think he could carry a subplot like Taco did.

I was in between on the laughing at Andre’s therapy session because it almost veered into being too mean. But then they had the group therapy and I died laughing.
Finally some Rafi and he didn’t disappoint.

I got trade raped earlier this season while I was super drunk, gave up Matt Forte for Kevin Ogletree (and it was after a few weeks of him sucking, not after his first and only good game). Won the regular season anyway, like a boss.
So my point is, rape jokes are funny unless they are about an actual real rape that happened in the real world.

The only time a rape joke is funny is when it’s not actually about rape, like when David Brent reports a rape in a hypothetical situation on The Office.
Or when it’s at the expense of the rapist.
Or at the expense of rape apologists. The reason why this was okay is that Rafi’s a scuzzy fucking monster.
rape jokes can be funny in many different forms. it’s not that hard to do, imo. the only issue with tosh’s “joke” was that it wasn’t funny. it was just a statement. i believe he meant it as a joke, but it just wasn’t framed that way. but this is coming from a tosh apologist who finds him generally to be a funny guy, so take that as you will.
I think they can be funny, but I agree that Tosh’s joke wasn’t funny. But I don’t find him or his show funny.
