In the wake of Obama’s victory last month, the GOP has been doing some soul searching. Many within the party are convinced that its hard turn to the right in recent years is hurting them with younger voters, women and people of color, and some are of the believe that having an entire cable news operation acting as its propaganda wing — effectively serving as a non-stop attack ad against Obama and the Democratic party — is doing the GOP a disservice rather than benefiting them.
So is Fox News maybe dialing it back a bit in the wake of the election, maybe taking some time to reevaluate their “scare the bejesus out of white people” strategy? HAHAHAHAHAHA, of course not!
Rather, Fox News, like an addict that can’t fight off the urge to take just one more hit, is still up to its old shenanigans, going hard to the “War on Christmas” well once again — nevermind that there’s a good chance you heard Christmas songs being played in retail outlets immediately after Halloween. Thankfully, Jon Stewart is around to gloriously call bullsh*t. The money shot: “For God sakes, Fox News itself is located in midtown Manhattan, the epicenter of all that is godless, secular, gay, Jew-y and hellbound, and yet even here, all around your studio, it looks like Santa’s balls exploded.”
Enjoy…
Here’s part one…
And here’s part two…

Relevant to the second video.
its almost as if fox news just wants to do whatever gets them ratings and make them the most money regardless of how stupid it makes them look to young educated folks. well, now that jon stewart has called them out i’m sure they’ll stop. glad that was sorted out. what a great moment for ombudsmanship.
its almost as if The Daily Show recognizes that their war on the war on Christmas is one of the most popular things they do and also want ratings.
@Nussy – It’s almost as if The Daily Show is news satire on a comedy network, and Bill is political commentator on a supposedly legitimate news network. Because of that, the former is allowed to do things that would ordinarily shatter the credibility of the latter. Apples and oranges. Except in this case, the oranges make a living off making fun of the almost endless supply of stupid shit Apples do. And pears, I suppose. I don’t trust those, either.
Talking about religion, politics (extreme ones at that), and Christmas (in December no less) on any TV show, then being posted on a blog I’m sure was never the intention of Fox, Daily Show, or WG either.
Let’s not forget that they are businesses, so yeah, they’re probably doing it for the ratings. And the fact that it got the largest discussion of today’s postings.
Fox News is behind the times. This year, the hot conservative outrage is that the Obama White House is celebrating Christmas too much.
He just can’t win- reminds me of this:
[upload.wikimedia.org]
/shoe-horned simpsons reference
Ignoring the fact that you’re an asshole the moment you utter the buzziest buzzword “fiscal cliff,” and ignoring the pathetic attempt at connecting holiday spending and an increased debt, Mr. Andrew Malcolm is still a big bag of dicks for writing an article about spending, on a site called “investors.com,” without once mentioning the cost of any of the things he’s complaining about. If we valued our currency in Christmas trees, this would be a very informative article.
the comments on that post are saddening
Those comments are golden.
It’s really hard to understand why conservatives are having a hard time winning over racial minorities with all their comments about “I guess this is what they mean by ni**er rich!” and “This is all a ploy to disguise his Muslim beliefs!”
At least all those 70-year-old white people are rallying around the cause. Sure, some of them will likely stroke out from their irrational rage over all things Obama, but the rest of them will live forever, right?
Good luck with your imminent obsolescence, Republicans. You had a good run ruining things, but it’s coming to a close.
I can’t stop reading these comments. As much as it hurts me and drives me into a maddening rage that people actually think like this daily and are this uninformed and retarded. The hurt. The rage.
“How many Christmas trees does it take to disguise a Muslim?”
ARE WE REALLY STILL FUCKING DOING THIS?!?!?!?!?!?!
I adore those comments … so much butthurt … so much anger at losing … so wonderfully unaware that they are like the monkey cage in a poor hick zoo … taking turns jerking each other off and then throwing poo at the gawkers and never understanding how truly irrelevant they are … these midterms are going to ROCK!
It’s strange how unAmerican the ideals and thoughts of these people truly are. As long as MORALITY (a subjective issue, but has many cross-over sections) and extreme right wing theism is the only definition of a true American, then they will never understand what being a fucking American actually means. Plus, yes, Carl, your idea of the butthurt conservative hits it right on the head as I’ve read the term “Voter Fraud” countless times.
As a reasonable conservative, I am sticking to my conspiracy theory that all of those comments (and their billion brothers on the interwebs) are written by a George Soros funded sweatshop paying human-trafficed thai prisoners to make conservative americans look like conspiracy theorist, xenophobic idiots.
Oh. no. I just read some of those comments (typical republican, posted before I saw the facts). Honestly, the worst was the woman with a Corgi for an avatar. HAVE YOU NO DECENCY!!!
your idea of the butthurt conservative hits it right on the head as I’ve read the term “Voter Fraud” countless times.
It’s actually worse than I’d previously thought. Check out this new poll:
49% of GOP voters nationally say they think that ACORN stole the election for President Obama. We found that 52% of Republicans thought that ACORN stole the 2008 election for Obama, so this is a modest decline, but perhaps smaller than might have been expected given that ACORN doesn’t exist anymore.
It’s one thing to be so delusional that you feel the need to “unskew” all the polls before an election to confirm with your belief that the Republicans were headed for a massive landslide.
It’s quite another, after the election goes for the other guy by a comfortable margin, to insist that the polls were still wrong, and the election results are wrong too. To insist that there was massive voter fraud — despite any evidence to support it, despite the fact that it would have had to take place on a massive scale across multiple swing states where Republican governors, secretaries of state and state legislatures ran the goddamn election machinery and reported the results.
But it’s even crazier to insist that this massive, multi-state, invisible campaign of voter fraud was engineered by a fucking grassroots organization that never had resources when it was alive but that’s been dead in the ground for several years.
Jesus Fucking Christ, these people are insane.
Bob, in all seriousness, you have my condolences.
I may not agree with much that reasonable conservatives like you propose in terms of policy matters, but I know we as a country need you. Liberals certainly don’t have all the answers, and their ideas need to be reality-checked by the principled objections of old-school conservatives.
If we have only two major parties in this country, and one of them is batshit insane, that’s not good for anyone.
I agree, Otto. More Bob Loblaw’s PLEEZE! Or at least enough to wrestle control from the morons. What’s happened to the GOP is like the PETA maniacs taking over the Dem party.
“War against Christmas” is catchy than the “Campaign against Kwanzaa”.
Not as catchy as “Chanukah Holocaust”, but also not going to bring you directly to the 9th Circle of Hell.
As an atheist it’s nice to be reminded of how utterly futile our attempts to become relevant remain.
Even though Obama won, Decomcrats are still losers.
You forgot your rimshot:
[instantrimshot.com]
I like the way you managed to misspell “Democrats” to really emphasize your fucktardery.
I was just trolling anyways. I knew I shouldnt have dropped out of 3rd grade. Thanks Obama.
i like the way you make up words like “fucktardery” so no one can point out your spelling errors. yet another dipshit who desperately jumps on a typing error to demonstrate intelligence. attack a persons strongest position if you are going to bother to attack. if you don’t, have you really won the argument?
Sorry, what was the “strongest position” of “Decomcrats are still losers”?
i’m sorry. in case you were confused, i was replying only to your comment and not the one you mention because yours was the one i chose to comment on -not all the others in this thread.
Fox News is the worst, but Jon Stewart is also the worst. The two don’t have to necessarily be mutually exclusive and I like to keep that in mind. Both are troll-hacks whose shtick it is to purposely misrepresent their adversaries. I wish they would all go away, and I don’t know who is doing more damage…Fox under the veil of being news, or Stewart being under the veil of comedy.
Irony is a cruel mistress.
Agreed.
Fox is doing more damage because they hide under the veil of news.
Stewart is no where near the damaging troll that Fox is, mostly because their trolling is intentional and is trying to make you think. Yes, they (Daily Show) have a very strong opinion and agenda that they push, but it mostly serves are a mirror toward America and its politics. They’re not above crossing party lines for mockery either. They use comedy as a way for people to be somewhat informed but also realize there are problems and idiotic bullshit happening daily in the world. It’s meant to make you think while laughing.
Fox, on the other hand, believes its viewers are borderline retarded, treats them as such, and feeds them bullshit to keep them going. They are not only uninformative, bu they try to keep you from actually thinking.
In short, Fox is way more damaging.
I can’t argue too much against your points, Alcoholics and Choad, but to me what makes it close is that most people – at least I think most people – on both sides of the aisle are well aware that Fox leans right (while, in fairness, most other news organizations lean left).
Whereas Stewart is on Comedy Central and can hide behind that we’re just supposed to laugh – but there’s an agenda there just the same, just a less up front one.
I also don’t doubt that the crossing of party lines happens on the Daily Show – I can’t stomach it for more than a few minutes so I honestly don’t know so will take your word for it – but I would have a hard time believing that they make fun of the left nearly as much, even like 1/5th as much, as the right.
Jon Stewart is very open about being a liberal, having a bias, and even believing in some policies that can be considered socialist. he’s much more honest about himself and his show than Fox is. plus, the dude is right on the money more times than not. in short, Stewart > SirNick90
If you haven’t figured out within one night of watching the Daily Show that the Daily Show leans left, you need to stop watching television, get out of the house, and check yourself into a mental health facility before you go anywhere near anything that might conceivably catch fire.
“Stewart>SirNick90.”
Well now you are just being ridiculous. I run the ball better than Jonathan, have more acting range than Kristin, and drive faster than Tony. And Jon? Please…I do the HOURLY show.
i think stewart is pretty funny but his line of attack is often painfully against the straw man. wasn’t the whole “attack on xmas” line that started the whole pointless story based on the removal of a nativity scene? that was the only time a religious aspect of xmas was mentioned. every shred stewart used to argue against the “attack on xmas” was a secular example eg xmas trees, decorations…etc. nary a mention of jesus or what it used to mean. what is being “attacked” ,i guess, is the religious aspect of xmas which is hardly visible beneath a pile of overpriced gifts for spoiled children.
+1
I’m not sure you watched the video. I know you didn’t watch the second video.
Jesus wasn’t born in December. Shut the fuck up.
Since when is Christmas about Jesus?
What AG said. The second video is a clip of Bill O’Reilly insisting that Christianity is not a religion, it’s just a philosophy. Feel free to send him your complaints about how liberals are undermining the religious aspect of Christmas.
And it’s “Christmas” by the way. “Xmas” is what godless communists call it.
Yeah, that O’Reilly stuff, I don’t know what he was trying to accomplish there. Religion, philosophy, lofty precocious possibly maybe worldview…it doesn’t matter what you call it, correcting someone like that is annoying and can’t lead to understanding or common ground. Sad. Stewart can’t bother to hide his disdain for religion, but O’Reilly can’t hide his desire to one-up with semantics.
is it depressing that for many comments i can’t tell if the people are trolling or just stupid? it should be easy but the ubiquity of morons make it a tricky decision.
*flips to honey boo boo
to be fair, SirNick, a reasonable person shouldn’t have to hide their disdain for religion. religion is horseshit.
See Dissident, that’s part of the problem. No one knows for sure how the world came about. We never will know. I will always say it is fine to believe whatever you want. The only thing that bothers me is when one side acts like they totally have it figured out, and treat the other side like they are stupid. It’s not like sports where we can look at the final score, for instance Redskins 17, Giants 16, and if someone says the Giants won, you can call them stupid. We’re all taking a leap of faith.
This all got way more philosophical than I expected, at least as someone who usually just reads Peter King takedowns and Wrestling columns…but I hoped to make a difference in the “people being dicks to each other” category and that’s why I’m here.
sure, no one knows. which is why i hate religion. you know, groups that act like they know.
Yes, arrogance goes both ways. “Definitely no Creator” is just as much a theory as “Definitely a Creator.”
I know. And it’s real easy to know. Religions – all of them, since 90% are identical, can be disproven factually and scientifically. Thus, they are wrong. That’s what I and other people with even a modicum of intelligence know.
Good day, and have fun chatting with your imaginary friends…
SirNick, please point out to me where i ever said i am sure about there not being a creator or an afterlife or sure about anything either way. Oh, that’s right. You can’t. Because I didn’t say anything like that. Because I don’t claim to know anything either way.
There are scientists who will say there was intelligent design of some sort, and scientists who say there is none. It is not an easy answer and humankind will debate it until the end of time.
Phrases seen on this thread, like “imaginary friends” and “religion is horseshit” are cheap shots. And to come full circle, that is the kind of debate Fox News, Jon Stewart, and to round out a Top 4 list of entities standing in the way of peace and compromise, Rush Limbaugh and Michael Moore, are helping polarize people with.
Thank you for your tolerance of different viewpoints. As a tolerant person myself I can’t turn around and quibble with your intolerance too much since it’s your prerogative, so I will wish you well.
Wow, I fully expected Bill’s face to turn into a troll face in his clips.
Fair point…but to that I would counter, look at Stewart’s face in the still frames before even playing the clips.
I just honestly don’t buy that he believes that Christianity is only a philosophy. I kind of want to watch the full clip from his show to hear his definition of what a religion actually is.
Yeah, the most we got in that clip was his saying that people can admire the way Jesus lived…but then by that logic, any religion is also a philosophy because one could admire the way the central figure of any other religion lived.
I’m an Atheist, and could give a shit about Christmas. No one talks about Jesus or God during it anyway. It’s all about buying shit and giving that shit to stupid kids.
I just heard a radio commercial about “Need cash for the holidays? Try our Christmas loans, for up to $1000 with no credit check needed, all you need is a checking account! You could be at the mall within minutes!”
GUHHHHHHH.
This makes me sad. I’ll have to watch some really obscure porn to get this out of my system…something including 3D.
I celebrate the Hallmark Christmas. I put up a tree, I watch Elf, and I give and receive presents.
I 100% do not care that it’s supposed to be about Jesus’s birth or that it’s actually the co-opting of a Pagan holiday, I just want cookies and eggnog. That probably makes me part of the problem according to Fox News, but it’d hardly be the first thing they’re outraged about that I’m a part of.
The talking heads guarding the inhabitants of Bullsh*t Mountain from rejoining the world of the sane just won’t budge an inch will they? Fox News is a propaganda machine which dumbs down America by the day through disinformation and their slanted agendas. See their anchors spewing forth feces from their mouths in my visual homage to the network on my artist’s blog at [dregstudiosart.blogspot.com]
I’m one of those crazy, awful moderate Republicans that Fox hates more than Obama and homosexuals combined. So I’m not 100% who their audience is going to be 10 years from now. You know how to get me to be a viewer, Fox? Stop filling the otherwise dead air time with bullshit about phony wars on whatever causes you feel are not being universally accepted by every breathing motherfucker in government nationwide. Seriously. Give me news. Real, actual important news and maybe if you’re lucky I’ll accidentally watch you while smoking a cigar at my local tobacconist.
Tobias- although I love your name, to be fair, the O’Reilly Factor is non-apologetically a commentary program, not a news program. To a fault, almost all segments include representation from both sides of a debate, and there are just as many liberals invited on the show as conservatives. If you want hard news, try any of the (increasingly rare) programs like America’s Newsroom or programs on other channels that cater exclusively to news (although I can’t think of anywhere that actually does that, sadly)
Should I watch the videos? On one hand, I agree that the whole “War on Christmas” thing is pretty bullshit. On the other hand, Stewart can be so fucking smug and up his own ass sometimes that even when I agree with him, I can’t stand him.
On Christmas I’m watching nothing but the one man who trumps Jesus, God, Bill O’Reilly, and every elected official, political advocate, and opinionated blowhard on earth. I’d do it wearing the accoutrements of his essence, but capes are expensive and it’s hard to type when your fists are crunchy from the juices of all the punks you’d have to hit to get into the spirit of the season.
If god existed, wouldn’t he have smited the Pope and destroyed the Vatican by now?

Man this is a loooooooooooooooooooooooooong comment section.
