Weekend Preview: Stay Tuned For A Very Important Episode Of ‘Game Of Thrones’

Game of Thrones (HBO, Sunday 9 p.m.) — Episode four of the season is flat-out awesome. That is all I will say, and although it is also true of the first three episodes, this one should not be time-shifted. Watch it live so you’re not spoiled. Then watch it again. It’s one of those classic episodes.

Veep (HBO, Sunday 10 p.m.) — Anyone else see Reid Scott on How to Live with Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life) this week? I kept waiting for him to deliver a vicious insult to Sarah Chalke, at which point I’d have to dissociate myself because NO ONE TALKS SH** TO SARAH CHALKE. Anyway, it looks like he’ll be on again this week, if you’re a fan (and you SHOULD be). Oh, and watch Veep because it’s hilarious, and Tony Hale (BUSTER F***ING BLUTH) will be HERE for a Veep Q&A on Tuesday.

Mad Men (AMC, Sunday 10 p.m.) — All of last week’s Dick Whitman flashbacks, the Madonna or the Whore imagery, and Megan’s potential future pregnancy still all point toward my theory on the death of Don Draper and the resurrection of Whitman by season’s end. My only hope is that the consequences of Trudy Campbell’s impressive scene last week leads to more screen time for Alison Brie, and not less.

Doctor Who (BBC America, Saturday 8 p.m.) — Last week’s episode was not a very good one (that’s a kind way of saying it was terrible), but this week’s is an old-fashioned ghost story written, again, by Neil Cross (who wrote the great”The Rings of Akhaten” two weeks ago). Also, it will feature Dougray Scott. What happened to that guy? He went from possible Wolverine in X-Men to … a Doctor Who episode?

Vikings (History, Sunday 10 p.m.) — I am absolutely loving Vikings, and it looks like it’s going to get even better, as Donal Logue arrives this week for the penultimate episode of the first season. He’s apparently going to build some sort of alliance with Ragnar, which probably means he’s got until the finale to keep his head.

Happy Endings (ABC, Friday 8 p.m.) — I know that Friday night is the death slot, and there’s virtually no way Happy Endings going to be picked up for another season (although, the USA Network may step in and pick it up), but I actually kind of like having Happy Endings to look forward to during the weekend.
