We'd don't give Modern Family a ton of love around these parts. It's just a little too popular (Emmys for everyone!) and a little too family values for us to give it the cool kids treatment. But Ty Burrell remains a revelation each and every episode and last week's basketball-to-the-face/stop-the-madness episode was just too spectacular for me to continue ignoring the awesomeness that is Phil Dunphy.
Also, thanks to Modern Family as a lead-in, my new favorite show and otherwise acquired taste, Happy Endings, was picked up for a second season. So if you can't get behind this tremendous collection of Dunphy-isms all I can ask is: "Why the face?"

I used to think Cam and Mitchell were the funniest on MF–Cam especially, as his drama always cracked me up. They haven’t really evolved over three seasons, so their schtick has gotten old.
Phil, on the other hand, has become one of my favorite characters on TV. When he gets the nickname “Buffalo Phil” at the dude ranch and says, “Worth the wait,” it’s a perfect moment. Ty Burrell is terrific.
@ATX: Couldn’t agree more. Phil (and Luke to a lesser extend) always deliver.

Phil is the best, especially when he’s with Luke. Their whole dynamic is adorable.

I don’t usually watch, but Ty Burrell was on Conan last night and he seems just as charming and awesome, not to mention as great a dad as Phil himself. Jillian Michaels was on too and I got a funny feeling in my pants. It was fear.
@Kazzae – I think that was a joke on Phil, not a joke about Australians. But I could be wrong — I haven’t had my Foster’s today yet.
So…..a successful show…..even though it is as funny as hell……cannot be loved…?
