If you're anyone I'd ever have a non-painful conversation with you're already aware and bummed out by the news that NBC has pulled Community from their midseason lineup, putting television's smartest comedy on a collision course with full-on cancellation. I'd love to tell you I'm in disbelief but -- as someone who naively wrote "Save Arrested Development" emails to FOX back in 2006 -- it was all too inevitable. Direct your anger at NBC all you want (they've brought it on themselves) but, seeing as how the Big Bang Theory fan in the cubicle next to you isn't getting an injection of comedy sophistication anytime soon, this was bound to happen. The masses simply aren't capable of the properly appreciating the subtle complexities of Black Hitler.
So of course the internet is grieving, hardcore fans going through the process much like they would with a death in the family (assuming that family member liked paintball episodes). The only difference is: THIS IS INTERNET! We don't accept! We occupy! Betty White on SNL! Timberlake to the Marine's Ball! ScarJo nudes! There's nothing we can't accomplish!
Save-Community.com appears to mounting the most valiant effort in the 24 hour wake of the news. Petitions and the like. The #SixSeasonsAndAMovie hashtag is also rather brilliant. For my part I've outlined the stages of internet Community grief here so all you Human Beings out there can experience it with a sort of uniformity and then get on to occupying at an accelerated rate.
Help us, FX. You're our only hope.

Save-Community has also put together this excellent video. The least you can do is sign their petition.

Is there any hope Netfilx picks this up?
@FN: We won’t know the alternatives until NBC officially cancels and that could be many months, but if you ask me that would be a coup for Netflix and getting the web savvy aboard their original programming early.
Here are the post NBC options as I see them:
1. Another network (esp. ABC) picks it up to buttress their comedy offerings.
2. A cable channel like FX or USA
3. Netflix
4. A Netflix competitor that wants to make a splash emerges like Amazon, Google, or Apple
5. The end of days
I firmly believe that all of the quality shows on NBC should secede to TBS. Conan has already set up a beachhead.
I believe that could be the answer. Forget petitioning NBC, petition Conan who seems to have some pull at TBS, or petition Jon Stewart, who Donald Glover used to work for, and maybe move the show to Comedy Central.
I would love to see Community move to Comedy Central or FX. The idea of giving Dan Harmon that kind of freedom on cable TV makes me feel funny. In my pants.
NOOOOO! I’ve been Annie for the past two Halloweens – this year: paintball edition I need at least five three more years of people not getting my costume
Community could very easily replace Suburgatory on ABC Wednesday nights.
Yep, Whitney Cummings really does give great head. How else could you explain her poor excuse of a show still on the air and a good show like Community get taken off the air?
I wouldn’t freak out just yet.
Why?
1. Parks and Rec was taken off at a similar point last season and it still came back. So pulling the show doesn’t necessarily mean cancelation.
2. It’s very, very close to 100 episodes which is the magic number the show needs to enter syndication. With just one more season it will reach that magic number.
3. The shows creators have said that they aren’t sure how it could continue after the 4th season–as the characters will most likely graduate. So I could see them coming to an amicable solution with the network where they agree to end the show after the 4th season rather than canceling it now.
