Agreed. Not sure why she gets all of the praise when she is the dimmest bulb in the cast. Her sulking routine feels straight out of drama school or a local improv class. Although she is a nice foil to Andy, who therefore gets to steal every scene he is in.
I love P&R so much. I just think April is a one note player. While I think Ann is way more disposable as a character, I think April just gets old after a while.
I agree she is good for Andy, but honestly, when it comes down to it, if you were comparing her against every other main character, I’d never pick her. Even over fucking Jerry.
All in all, I can’t tell when Aubrey Plaza is giving it her all or when she’s phoning it in. It’s all the same.
To each their own and all that, but I don’t see her as one one. I think her emotional moments, while maybe a bit more subtle, are really excellent and some of my favorite moments on the show. When she’s talking to Leslie sitting against the lockers in the Model UN episode or when she gives Chris the movie tickets after he gets dumped by Millicent are a few off the top of my head examples.

worst character on P&R >>>>>> best character on most other comedies. While some may contend that she is a one trick pony (I do not) you must concede that she does that trick really fucking well. Not only is she a great foil for Andy but for Ron as well, and her meanness to Ann works too sometimes. Looking forward to her and Ben’s scenes this year
Those moments were nice, but I don’t think it was because of her acting.

April is by far my favorite character on P&R, the way she can be so expressive while not making any expressions whatsoever is impressive.
